      1983’s Silkwood is a powerful story. It’s also a true story which makes it tremendously poignant and meaningful. It’s also a story with an uncertain ending, even to this day.

      This is the story of Karen Silkwood, a young woman


      who worked at a nuclear plant and realized things weren’t right. She never intended to be an activist, but she involuntarily became involved because of what she saw and what happened to her. In 1974, Silkwood left her home to meet with a reporter. She never made it. Silkwood is her story.

      While Silkwood’s untimely death is still considered open, most everyone who sees this film or knows the story believes she was murdered. What she had to say was costly to

      the plant. Her death couldn’t stop the truth from coming out. I suppose it’s her legacy.

      Silkwood is intense, funny, dramatic, and emotional. Streep, Cher, and Russell all received nominations throughout the industry for their work and deservedly so.
