Aaliyah ft. Ginuwine, Timbaland, and Missy Elliot “One In A Million (Remix)” One In A Million Blackground/Atlantic Director: Paul Hunter

Remix singles have the potential to do many things for listeners, but remix music videos are a hit and miss game when it comes down to it. The remix for Aaliyah’s signature hit, “One In A Million”

is a much smoother and sexier song, even though I still prefer the original version. However, the video for this remixed song is another story.

What’s so different about it you ask? I’ll tell you what is so different - Extended footage. Yep, that’s right, same setting, same backgrounds, albeit with a few more shots of Aaliyah ...

      • performing and new shots of Timbaland and Missy Elliott needlessly standing in front of Aaliyah moving around and ad-libbing like idiots as she performs. Then there’s some footage of Aaliyah having a singing and dancing duet with Ginuwine.

Was this video needed? Nope. This was a pointless video, plain and simple fact. If someone feels the need

to direct a music video to a remix song, please at least be original about it and show us something new instead of a few extended scenes and shots here and there. That is such a cop-out and it unfortunately happens to a lot of remix videos out there. Oh well. Do yourself a favor and stick with the original one instead.
