The Lord Of The Rings was written by JRR Tolkien. It is set in a world created by Tolkien named “Middle Earth”. It is a world rich in lore, culture, languages and with different races of people.

The book mainly revolves around the trials and tribulations of young Frodo Baggins on his journey to destroy the One Ring thus preventing the series’s main villain Sauron from retuning to power. The book’s title itself refers to Sauron who had used the ring earlier as his tool to conquer Middle Earth.

This book is something i consider

to be one of the best fantasy books of all time. The author is very descriptive. It’s like you can imagine all the various scenes as it progresses.

You get to view the different effects on a person in various situations. He has various characters who deal with different situations in a different way.

The main heroes are Aragorn and Gandalf. Aragorn is the king-in-exile.

He is expected to drive away the forces of evil and restore peace.

Gandalf is the mysterious wizard and has been sent to drive back evil.

      The job of ...

      • the evil side is performed to the hilt by Saruman, the dark wraiths and Sauron. The dark wraiths manage to bring an aura of fear to the scene whenever they appear. Saruman shows us how power can corrupt. Sauron represents evil, just evil.

The book engrosses you in it. You feel relief when the armies arrive to save gondor, pain when gandalf is presumed dead, pity for gollum, anger at the orcs when they kidnap the hobbits, fear when frodo is being pursued and so on.

For those who want romance, there’s also a love

story between two characters, Arya-the daughter of an elven lord and the other, Aragorn- heir to the throne.

It is a testament to Tolkien’s writing ability that even though the book is very long , he manages to keep our attention. His imagination is another very important component. At times, you might consider it too long and may wish to skip a particular part . But this happens on very few occasions.

I’ve had the box set of this book for years. And in my view, at the end of everything, this book is a great achievement.
