Polychromatic is a LiveJournal based, multifandom Role Playing Game that’s been around for more than three years.

At first glance, the game itself seems rather chaotic and confusing. But once you get a hold of the basics nothing can stop you from having fun.

Unlike many multifandom RPGs, Polychromatic allows players to use Original Characters (characters created by them, not ones from tv shows, movies, books or comics). Which is a big plus, because it truly allows the players to let their imagination go.

      At the same

time, the game (and the moderators) is very strict about keeping your fandom character In Character (IC - term meaning playing your character in a manner that he or she appears in the source material), despite various, unbelievable events thrown at them.

The original solution that I quite liked about Poly, is a regular “How’s My Driving” event, where other players can comment on your use of your characters. Whether they think you’re doing things right, suggesting improvement and being all kinds of helpful.

      You can play ...

      • your character using two ways of interaction. Journal posts, which are basically your character’s entries on the Network (Poly’s version of a virtual community) or in Action logs (where you use a regular, well known third person description of your character’s actions). Combining those two ways of RolePlaying results in a full experience, and possibility of getting to know your character, developing and changing them as the game progresses.

Apart from your character’s journal, there are also three Polychromatic communities. Main Poly community, where the mods

post announcements, HMD posts and activity lists, poly-tldr community where players can post hiatus posts, information, and communicate between each other (communication between players is very important at Poly) and a community only for action logs.

Like I mentioned before, Polychromatic might come of as chaotic and complicated, but they have a very detailed guide to the game and equally helpful moderators. Players themselves also try to help all the way. If you’re an RPG fan, this is one game you should consider joining. The experience is unforgettable.
