Outbreak is a thriller of a drama from 1995 that stars Dustin Hoffman and Rene Russo as a divorced couple, both of who are biologists and researchers. Hoffman is researching an Ebola-like virus that killed everyone in an African town in the late sixties. Twenty-five years later, a new strain of the virus erupts again. The big problem occurs when a monkey invested with the disease is stowed illegally

aboard a ship and makes its way to California. Soon, the virus makes itself known in a quiet golden state town.

As the tally of victims rises, Hoffman does his best to figure out the truth about the airborne virus. He’s not buying everything he’s being told from the government, and for good reason. That’s the mystery and that’s what leads to a very dramatic confrontation in the film’s climax.

      • are a lot of things I like about Outbreak. The divorced couple shares custody of their dog, which is just cute as can be. It’s just a hoot watching the drop off at the beginning and all the stuff about it early on. It’s not something seen much in other films, so I always took to that side story well.

Then there is just the very obvious fact that the

twosome is still very much in love. Watching that reunite as they work together is very nice.

Hoffman really excels in his role, and when he stands up to the government idiots, it’s awesome, but the scene in the helicopter at the end is terrific and a true highlight.

Outbreak was very well done, and it has a solid cast to support Hoffman and Russo, including Morgan Freeman, Donald Sutherland, Kevin Spacey, and Cuba Gooding Jr.
