  • You don't want for anything, including bathrobes, the best of room service, etc. If you are one of us average people who only get to see this caliber of hotel in the context of attending a professional conference or meeting, you will really get to see how the better half lives

The Willard InterContinental Hotel is on Pennsylvania Avenue right across from the General John J. Pershing Monument and near a number of government offices. You can see the White House from there and a lot of other major Washington tourist attractions. It is a fabulous, very upscale place, very sophisticated.

The rooms were very elegant and just the type you would expect in a city of this reputation. You don’t want for anything, including bathrobes, the best of room service, etc. If you are one of us “average” people who only get to see this caliber of hotel in the context

of attending a professional conference or meeting, you will really get to see how the “better half” lives.

If you are a participant in a conference at the Willard, you will most likely get one of the guest rooms there. If you want to “upgrade” they have various suites at different and much higher rates. The people who work there are very courteous and charming.

Everybody is informative and can tell you just about anything you want to know about the D. C. area.

Given the prestige of this hotel, since it has quite a history, it’s a pleasant surprise to ...

      • discover that the people who work there are not snobbish in any manner, but very down-to-earth. Everyone greets you with a warm, welcome smile and goes out of their way to see that you are fully satisfied with their service. The ambiance of the place is very nice.

You imagine yourself dressed in tails or evening gown going out for a night on the town. Very classy!

The food was fantastic, from casual to high end cuisine. There are dining places within the hotel, among them The Willard Room, The Terrace, Cafe 1401 and The Taste of America Brunch.

        They

also have a historic old bar, The Round Robin, that serves up a number of different cocktails and appetizers and is where you can see a lot of Washington “wheelers and dealers”. Being in an environment like The Willard InterContinental makes you feel like you’re worth a million bucks, even if you’re not. This is definitely a place geared towards the well-heeled and, if you are ever fortunate enough to go there for a conference or meeting, you will get the chance to see a place that epitomizes the typical Washington, D.

        C. elite. Their hotel rates go from $610 to $4200 per night depending on the kind of room you book.
