Bitter Virgin is a manga by Kusunoki Kei. It is a four volume long manga with the genre of drama, mature, romance, school life, seinen, slice of life, and tragedy. The manga is about the relationship of high school student Daisuke Suwa and his classmate Hinako Aikawa.

Daisuke is the eye of all the girls in his high school except for Hinako. She isn’t really his type but he overhears her deep bitter secrets and he finds himself

      thinking a lot of her.

Hinako was been raped by her step father and pregnant two times. She had an abortion for her first baby and the second baby was put up for adoption that she wasn’t even given the chance to touch the baby.

Despite what happened to Hinako, Daisuke finds himself falling in love with her.

The artwork of the manga is great.

The mangaka did a great job on drawing Hinako. When I first saw Hinako,

      • I felt that she was having some issues because of her sad eyes.

The cover (it is the one shown on most manga sites) was really good with a lot of symbolism like the color blue, the flower, and the hand that was trying to hold on Hinako but wasn’t fully shown. I like the idea that despite of Hinako’s past, Daisuke still wanted to be with her which was really sweet.

This manga never failed to make

me cry. The words and dialogues on the manga are made well that you can almost feel how hard Hinako’s been through.

I still can’t tell if I was satisfied with the ending because it was nice that Daisuke and Hinako finally got to be together but I wish Hinako’s stepfather had been punished or sent to jail. I can’t really say the whole manga is enjoying because Hinako suffers a lot but this is really a good read.
