A remake of the Japanese thriller, Ju-on: The Grudge, this film does a fairly decent job of weaving supernatural horror with tasteful special effects, and an engaging storyline. I wouldn’t call this

      story terribly scary.

But the “chill” factor is indeed great.

I could have done without Sarah Michelle Gellar.

She’s a little bland of an actress for my taste.

Perhaps another actress whos is a bit more raw would have worked out ...

      • better.

At any rate, this story is expertly woven for a horror film.

I enjoyed the flashback aspect of the plot.

There are a few believable performances, mainly by the Japanese actors in the film.

        I thought that the

cinematography was sleek and not too overdone.

There appears to be a trend in remaking Japanese horror.

This one was done pretty well.

But I suspect that if the trend continues, some of the good stories may end up a bit watered down.
