  • It is also recommend that this filter be replaced after 60 days or 60 uses, When calcium builds up to much and interferes with brewing, the self clean light will flash
  • One downside that we noticed right away is that there is no see through part on the water reservoir
  • It makes delicious coffee, though it should be noted that you may want to use a little less coffee with this maker then what you use with other coffeemakers
  • Given that measuring the water for this coffeemaker takes considerable more effort than it does with other models and the fact that you have to turn the carafe upside down to pour, I wouldn't say that this is the best coffeemaker that we have ever had, but it is a good, quality coffeemaker

My husband and I are big time coffee drinkers so we are always in search of a better coffee maker. We decided we wanted to give a classier model a try which resulted in our purchasing the Cuisinart Brew Central Thermal 10-Cup Coffeemaker DCC-1400.

Features of the Cuisinart Brew Central 10-Cup Coffeemaker are as follows:

Water filter Pause and serve function Completely Programmable Self Cleaning Ready tone 1-4 Cup setting Thermal carafe Stainless steel Cone filter design w/showerhead water delivery

The Cuisinart Brew Central does not come with a grind and brew feature. It does come with one charcoal water filter, coffee scoop, a few paper filters and one permanent filter.

The charcoal water has to be soaked in cold water before use for at least 15 minutes. It is also recommend that this filter be replaced after 60 days or 60 uses,

When calcium builds up to much and interferes with brewing, the self clean light will flash. At this time you need to fill the reservoir with part water and part vinegar and run it threw the brew cycle. This will effectively clean your coffeemaker.

coffeemaker contains an LCD digital clock display, however the clock is black and has no back light and does not glow so seeing the time on it is not always easy.

On the control panel are both buttons and dials. It looks very cool and is very simple to use. Programming this machine is simple and well explained in the manual that comes with it.

It should be noted that the plate in which the carafe sits on does not heat up and the coffeemaker shuts itself off as soon as it is done brewing. The carafe for this coffeemaker is made from strong, durable stainless steel and operates the same as a thermos. The coffee both brews and pours through the lid of the carafe which is specially designed to seal air out. It is recommended that the carafe be pre-warmed before using.

We had our Cuisinart Brew Central out of the box and working quickly and easily. We used the the permanent filter when we first started using it.

One downside that we noticed right away is that there is no see through ...

      • part on the water reservoir. There are markings inside the reservoir for measuring the water, but these are not so easy to see. Also, as the carafe is stainless steel you can not see through it either and so there are no cup measurement markings on that either. This is a little bit of a hassle for us as we are used to being able to measure the amount of water we need simply by looking through the see through part of the reservoir which this maker does not have, or by measuring with the carafe, which also can not be done with this model.

Another thing which took some getting used to with this coffeemaker is that the way the carafe is designed you have to turn it almost all the way upside down in order to pour from it. This also makes using the carafe to fill the reservoir very hard, we often use something else for this task when using this coffeemaker.

We found that this coffeemaker works wonderfully at getting the full flavor out of the coffee. Almost to well

as our first couple of pots came out to strong even though we used the same amount of coffee that we have always used. We found that we can use less coffee to get it to our liking with this particular coffeemaker.

This coffeemaker has a ready tone which will sound a beep at the end of the brew cycle and this feature can be turned off if desired. The pause feature works perfectly, we’ve not had one drop spill while taking advantage of the pause feature.

In conclusion, though there are a couple of things which take some getting used to with this coffeemaker, it is a pretty decent machine. It makes delicious coffee, though it should be noted that you may want to use a little less coffee with this maker then what you use with other coffeemakers. Given that measuring the water for this coffeemaker takes considerable more effort than it does with other models and the fact that you have to turn the carafe upside down to pour, I wouldn’t say that this is the best coffeemaker that we have ever had, but it is a good, quality coffeemaker.

Great coffee maker with just one issue. some times when we are brewing coffee the carafe lid will not except the brewed coffee from the filter mechanism above resulting in freshly brewed coffee spilling over the kitchen counter. This happens at random without warning and only a portion of the coffee spills. Any ideas why this happens or what the fix is would be greatly appreciated.
