The Swoop action figure from the Transformers Animated Series line of toys is pretty cool but has a few negatives as well. I recently purchased him at Walmart for $11.99. As Transformers fans will know, he is one of the Dinobots - robots that transform into dinosaurs. He is definitely cool enough that I want to buy the other two, Grimlock and Snarl.

      Pros: Swoop

is very cool looking in robot mode. He has a very long and narrow face that looks very bird-like. He also has a very large spiked ball and chain as a weapon, although it is a little too heavy for his slender frame. In dinosaur mode, Swoop’s best features are his hinged jaw and clawed feet.

Cons: First of all, Swoop is a little on the ...

      • small side. Compared with the other Transformers, he is much thinner than most. He is also pretty short. Even in dinosaur mode he is quite skinny. This lack of bulk is understandable considering his dinosaur form, but it may have helped to give him more height. Also his ball and chain are too heavy and you pretty much have to put the handle in
his hand and let the ball rest on the ground. Finally, the snaps on his back for his wings in robot mode are very hard to finalize. If you get them snapped in, leave them alone.

Overall: Swoop looks neat, but I wish he was a little bigger and that his wings locked in better in robot mode. I give Swoop a 6 out of 10.
