      My daughter was watching Inspector Gadget (on DVD) when I got home for lunch today so I ended up watching the episode “A Star is Lost” with her.

      This one is actually quite funny.

      Like most other Inspector Gadget episodes, Gadget is trying to stop MAD


      from committing some major crime. In this case, the crime involves a plot to kidnap a famous rock star and Gadget is assigned to protect him.

      Of course, that would be much simpler if this wasn’t Gadget. He doesn’t recognize the singer when he comes across him and, because of his ignorance and incompetence, nearly ends up killing the guy by hitting the wrong button in the Gadget Mobile.

      the entire case much more interesting and whole lot funnier because Gadget ends up suspecting a MAD agent of impersonating a police inspector without realizing that he is actually looking for himself. Definitely a cute (but a bit confusing) premise.

      It’s episodes like this one

      that make me miss this show. I hope, someday, someone will have enough common sense to try to revive the franchise (and not in those live-action movie form) so another generation can be introduced to a very funny and sometimes educational cartoon. I know my daughter loves it.
