  • The only reason I watched Coyote Ugly is because I wanted to see how the standee (a life-size, cardboard image) of Patrick Swayze was used
  • It's pretty funny to see how the standee is used, and it was just plain fun to see it as part of the picture in the first place

Piper Perabo made a big splash in Coyote Ugly back in 2000. The female coyote craze has really grown since then. These are women who both bar-tend and entertain the patrons. They’re gone for getting up atop the bar and singing and dancing, in groups and individually. They’re trained to do bartender tricks, as well. These

types of clubs are all over the country now. There’s even a reality show about hiring new coyotes for the various bars.

In Coyote Ugly, Perabo is Violet Sanford, an aspiring singer/songwriter who wants to make it big in the music world. She goes to New York City and manages to become a coyote, learning the ropes of the trade ...

      • as she goes along. Naturally, she has a lot of conflict and obstacles thrown her way, and it’s how she resolves those that comprises the scope of Coyote Ugly.

Also starring are John Goodman, Tyra Banks, Maria Bello, and Bridget Moynahan, among others.

The only reason I watched Coyote Ugly is because I wanted to see how the standee (a life-size, cardboard

image) of Patrick Swayze was used. I’d heard about this through the grapevine, and as a huge Swayze fan, I was curious. It’s pretty funny to see how the standee is used, and it was just plain fun to see it as part of the picture in the first place.

Coyote Ugly isn’t a stellar movie, but it has its moments.
