  • As the two models cost about the same (a couple hundred dollar difference), so I decided that it was a good idea to review the HD1000 as well to give you a better idea of what to expect
  • The HD1000 unfortunately only offers a 10x optical zoom instead of a 16x
  • I noticed that the pictures tend to be somewhat less crisp/clear than they could be
  • The camera microphone works pretty well, but I found that in certain weather conditions the microphone tends to give a static like noise
  • All in all not the best camera on the market, and I would not really suggest this purchase for another very important reason

A while ago, on this site, I reviewed the newer Sanyo Xacti HD2000. As the two models cost about the same (a couple hundred dollar difference), so I decided that it was a good idea to review the HD1000 as well to give you a better idea of what to expect. First off the general shape/size/weight of the HD1000 is similar to the HD2000.

The HD1000 unfortunately only offers a 10x optical zoom instead of a 16x. One major flaw with the HD1000 is

that it only records in full hp 1080i.

Now as I stated in other reviews the 1080i is about half as good as the 1080p, and unfortunately can cause some playback problems on older television sets. The HD 1000 is a tad cheaper than newer models but you also get a lot less out of it.

The image stabilizer takes somewhat longer to activate and, in my point of view, the camera does not work well under poor light conditions, the camera also takes pictures but unfortunately they aren’t as good as they could be. I noticed that the pictures tend to be somewhat less crisp/clear than they could be.

The camera is very user friendly, and very easy to use. All the button configurations are easily accessible as are the menu functions (among the easiest to use I’ve seen).

The camera microphone works pretty well, but I found that in certain weather conditions the microphone tends to give a static like noise. This is a pretty good ...

camera, but, as there is a much better model (the HD2000) at just a couple hundred dollars more ($100 - $200) then I don’t really suggest this purchase.

The camera WAS a valid product when it came out, but as time passes technology progresses and unfortunately this model did become somewhat obsolete. However, since not everyone can chuck money out the window on a really good camera you can buy this camera (obviously) but keep in mind one thing: If you don’t have at

least an HD-Ready television then you should definitely get a 1080p, if you do have such a TV then it’s not absolutely necessary, but advisable (to get the best picture possible).

All in all not the best camera on the market, and I would not really suggest this purchase for another very important reason. There are hundreds of other models to choose from, which offer many more features, are of better quality and work much better than the HD1000 for the same (market) price.
