The Slam Dunk contest is the most anticipated event in the every all star because of its spectacular, never-seen-in-game slams. This year was no different and so I was very much excited to see this year’s highlights.

The all star slam dunk contest deviated from the traditional format wherein a team fields in one player as their representative. Instead, this year involved three imports to compete in the import category and three

more locals in the local category. The winner in each category will face off for the slam dunk crown.

At the beginning of the contest, the dunks were really terrible and the imports were really a disappointment. I’d expected something better but they kept on missing their dunks and had to settle for typical slams just to get some scores. It was also due to the 10 seconds limit per dunk, quite ...

      • a short amount of time to get a decent dunk if you’d ask me.

The locals did not fare any better. KG Canaleta’s slam down with Gabe Norwood wasn’t very exciting at all. I thought the former did better before but in the end, Gabe Norwood bested him and Jared Dilinger who although missed his first dunk, provided some amusement by wearing a Manny Pacquiao shorts and gloves.

        David Noel’s dunk wasn’t

really a very electrifying one. He did added a different dimension by doing a cart-wheel and back flip to hype the crowd but his dunk was just a simple 360. And this is from a guy who won the 2006 NCAA Slam Dunk Contest.

I hope next season’s slam dunk contest would be better off compared to this year’s. But then again, how low can they possibly go after seeing the performance this time.
