Canada’s Wonderland is a huge Theme park, located in Vaughan, Ontario, 30kms north of downtown Toronto. It’s considered to be one of North America’s top theme parks with more than 200 attractions.

From 1994 until 2006, Canada’s Wonderland was known as Paramount Canada’s Wonderland, the park was sold to Cedar Fair in 2006 and reverted back to the original name in 2007. In 2005 and 2006, the park was the most attended seasonal theme park in North America two years in a row.

Today, Canada’s Wonderland has over 200 attractions, with over 60 thrill rides. The park is tied for second place for most roller-coasters in one park (15 of them) and North America’s greatest Variety. The roller-coasters in Canada’s Wonderland are as follows.

The Bat, Behemoth, Dragon Fire, The Fly, Backlot Stunt Coaster, Mighty Canadian Minebuster, Skyrider, Thunder Run, Timewarp, Flight Deck, Vortex, Wild Beast.

The park is also split into different themes in different areas.

These themes are called International Street, Medieval Faire, International Festival, White Water Canyon, Splash Works, Action Zone, and Kids area (Hanna Barbara land, Nickelodeon Central and Kidzville.)

At the epicenter of the park is a huge fake mountain with waterfalls plunging from it. This is known as ‘The Falls at Wonder Mountain’ and they are spectacular. On International Street is another spectacular water feature. This is a long pool with fountains all the way along it. These fountains spout water in a carefully choreographed display throughout the day. As dusk falls, they’re lit with different colored lights and look wonderful!

The entrance fee for Canada’s Wonderland ($42 for adults and $31 for kids) is quite reasonable given the size of the park and the many attractions available, but it’s much better value for money to get a Season Pass. This gets you entrance into the park from the day it opens,

      • to the day it closes, and you can also get privilege parking with your pass for a small extra fee, so that you can park closer to the park gates great for the height of summer when the park is very busy. A season pass will set you back $88 for Adults, and $66 for juniors and seniors for the 2009 season. The parking pass is currently $40.

Canada’s Wonderland really is an amazing place. Myself and my partner have been many times and though we don’t live in Ontario any more, we still talk about the days we spent there. The roller coasters can have long waiting times, but they’re great attractions and worth the wait. My personal favorite is Vortex, the cars are suspended from the track, as opposed to resting on them, and the ride is smooth but thrilling.

My tip for the coasters would be to get

there when the park opens in the morning, and ride the big ones as soon as possible, during the day, they get very busy. Another time to ride them would be at night, an hour before the park closes. The lines are much shorter and move very fast. Also, for the last few rides at night, you don’t even need to get off if you don’t want to. So long as nobody is waiting to get on the car that you’re sat in, you can stay on and ride till the ride closes for the night.

There are also many places where you can buy food. These consist mostly of the usual theme park food, such as burgers and fries, but there are also various places that do the best funnel cake! With vanilla ice-cream and strawberries, these are to die for!

All in all, Canada’s Wonderland is just amazing. It’s a family friendly place that every member of the family will enjoy!
