When I first found out that a Grey’s Anatomy game was coming out for the Wii I was excited, albeit not free from the expectation that it could be a little cheesy. Being update on all of the episodes and a fan of the show for a few years, I was going to get it regardless. Turns out, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and amusement offered by this game.

Grey’s Anatomy the game is divided into five episodes and many scenes, all built

around the storyline of a highly infectious disease that has broken out at Seattle Grace Hospital. Each level is quick, taking on average only 3-4 minutes to complete, and plays like you are watching an actual episode from the t.v. show.

Throughout the action of a stage there are Choices, Challenges, and Surgeries to be made/done before the scene is complete. The variety of interesting mini-games start off easy, but become progressively harder as you get farther in the game.

Choices involve deciding the reaction ...

      • you would prefer from the characters from a set of two options (helping to shape the drama somewhat like those “Choose Your Own Adventure” books), and Challenges are games like slicing photographs, unwrapping notes, arranging mirrors, playing rhythms, or creating paths. Surgeries are surprisingly in-depth and will find you doing not just routine things like administering shots or suturing wounds, but delightfully graphic tasks such as playing with organs or watching a giant eyeball move around your screen as part of a vision test.

        In addition

to the neat gameplay are moderately good graphics and dialogue that is appropriately grown-up for a Wii game. The game gives you several chances to pass a level, so it’s more about enjoying the experience than providing excessive challenge. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of the t.v. show.

Grey’s Anatomy for the Wii currently sells for $27.99 on Amazon.com. It is also available for the Nintendo DS, and as a PC game. It’s rated T for Teen by the ESRB.
