  • The bass I bought was blue and white, and bundled with all its power cables and an amp, it cost just under $500
  • I am lucky enough to have hands large enough to be fast with these movements, so it isn't too much of a problem, however I would have preferred a shorter neck, especially towards the headstock

The first bass I ever purchased was a Fender Squier P-Bass, which was part of a bundle with a 20-watt Fender amp. Though this bass is limited, as all introductory instruments are, it is still very fun to use.

The bass I bought was blue and white, and bundled with all its power cables and an amp, it cost just under $500. Because of the price, I was more than a bit skeptical about the

capabilities of the instrument, but I heard good things about Squiers, so I was inclined to try. The fretboard of this bass is quite tall, and thus, if you don’t have large hands, it can be kind of hard, and slow to use, as it takes slightly more time to move your fingers between frets. The strings this bass was packaged with were adequate for the job, and took a lot of playing before they went highly out of tune. The bass comes with one knob for adjusting tones, the extremes of either can be loosely classified as “funky” or “jazzy/deep”. I find the funky tones at one extreme to be too different

from standard funky tones to be of much use, but the deep tone is very good and highly usable, and it is the one I use most often.

This bass takes a lot to go out of tune, and sounds great. It also seems durable, and I admit that I have dropped mine a couple of times with seemingly no damage, so it is very impressive.

All in all, a very good and highly usable introductory bass!
