  • Travelers to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico are most often looking for a beach holiday with a party atmosphere, and the city is definitely a lively place with a boisterous night life
  • It was wonderful, although I would not recommend it for children or less brave swimmers, but for us, watching the stingrays leap above our heads, and swimming and body surfing in the royal blue ocean was amazing
  • Not that the restaurants and buffet did not serve delicious food, but it was nice to have a party and eat outdoors, along with live local musical and dancing

Travelers to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico are most often looking for a beach holiday with a party atmosphere, and the city is definitely a lively place with a boisterous night life. My husband and I were looking for a combination of fun and relaxation, so we looked for a resort outside of town and finally found the InterContinental Presidente Los Cabos Resort, located in San Jose Del Cabo, about 20 minutes from Cabo San Lucas. The online information presented the resort as a 4-plus star with all the usual resort features, and at a reasonable price of $1,200 per person, we booked

      it right away.

Since I have been to several 4-plus star resorts throughout the world, I usually remember the features that make each place stand out from the rest. The InterContinental Presidente had the usual great restaurants and buffet, great service, wonderful drinks, comfortable accommodations, and a gorgeous beach. But there were a couple of things that made this vacation memorable.

First, the resort is located on a part of the Baja on the Gulf of California where the surf is quite dangerous, and as there is no lifeguard on duty, swimming was not advised. So we had the beach almost to ourselves most ...

      • of the time, and as we are not pool people, this suited us just fine. After a couple of rough tumbles head first into the sandy bottom of the ocean, we figured out how to dive into the waves and swim to a place where the surf was calm. It was wonderful, although I would not recommend it for children or less brave swimmers, but for us, watching the stingrays leap above our heads, and swimming and body surfing in the royal blue ocean was amazing. We did that every day, all day long. As the beach was almost always empty of
tourists, we also didn’t get harassed by the local beach vendors.

The other feature we loved was the Fiesta that the resort put on during our last evening. The staff prepared an authentic Mexican feast outside and I have to admit that it was a nice evening to mingle with the other guests. Not that the restaurants and buffet did not serve delicious food, but it was nice to have a party and eat outdoors, along with live local musical and dancing. The Intercontinental Presidente is a great resort for a sunny vacation, and I will be going back sometime on a future trip to Mexico.
