Race car driver Casey Mears is currently driving the 07 car for Richard Childress Racing. Before that, he drove the number 25 car for Hendrick Motorsports. I like Casey Mears. I like his attitude, his easy going style, and his determination. The man has had some bad luck on the track, and I truly feel that he’s a better driver than his results show.

of the NASCAR racing world — Charlotte, North Carolina. He’s engaged, his bride-to-be having given birth to their daughter Samantha in late 2008. He began in the Sprint Cup in 2004 and earned quick notice by gaining two poles, including one for the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis. He was driving for Chip Ganassi at this time, but opted to sign with Hendrick for the 2007 season. He finally got that elusive first Cup victory in 2007 at the Lowe’s ...

Unfortunately, Mears never seemed to match the expectations. He was involved in some wrecks, though most weren’t of his own making. It was a matter of the car being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Casey Mears is a good teammate, though. He races for the wins, but he’s aware that he’s on a team and that you help them when you can. This stands out for me quite a bit because in my opinion his higher

profile Hendrick teammate was Jimmie Johnson, who is not a good team player. Johnson races only for himself. It’s rare to see him help out a teammate. Mears, on the other hand, does what he can, when he can. He’s a true sportsman in my book.

Most believe that Casey Mears needs to have some real success in 2009 or risk fading away. I’m hoping he makes it because he is a well-liked, genuine nice guy from all reports.
