Soap opera diva Kim Zimmer of the Guiding Light guest stars in this season four episode of MacGyver entitled Deadly Dreams. She plays Kate Murphy, a tough cop who has recently solved a series murder that involved a very strong-minded psychopathic serial killer named Dr. Zito. After getting inside the murderer’s head to capture

him, she’s at the breaking point and has, in fact, transferred out of homicide to another, less stressful department.

The Phoenix Foundation has been hired by the police department to help with some long term evaluation and training. At first, Mac and Murphy don’t get along at all, but that doesn’t stop Mac from sensing there ...

      • is something troubling the cop.

This show features a lot of psycho-drama. Zito has an element of Hannibal Lecter in him. He’s used mind control to assist another inmate in escaping, only it’s not quite as simple as that. It’s a rather convoluted plan that the escapee believes is to help him, but which

ultimately is designed just for Zito to get revenge on Murphy.

Mac goes one on one with Zito, and it gets intense here and there. It’s fun, though, to see how Mac eventually gets to the truth.

This is a good episode and one with some psychological intrigue, which makes it a bit different from the normal episode.
