There’s no Nikki, but Jack Dalton is back in this third season episode of MacGyver called Jack in the Box, and once again he lures Mac into helping him by making a phone call where he pretends to be beaten up. About the only joy I get from this is that then he really did get beat up and arrested by the local sheriff.

Now what is ridiculous about the very beginning

is that Mac and Pete return from a four-day fishing trip and Mac rewinds his answering machine to play his messages. Four days and a popular dude like MacGyver has one, and only one message — the one from Jack Dalton. It’s just so ridiculously unbelievable. • on. Unfortunately, Mac can’t resist and off he goes to a little town called Smiley in Arkansas. The only neat thing about that is that Mac has a nifty looking rental car. It’s hot, hot, hot during those scenes with him driving.

What’s also annoying about this is that Mac once again thinks Jack is dead. This is about the third time and it’s just old, old, and old.

It was used once too many times.

Regardless, because I’m so frustrated by the Jack Dalton character, it’s hard to enjoy this episode, which is just another Dalton con that Mac gets roped into. He guilts Mac into everything, and it just drives me insane. The only decent thing about this is that Mac looks great wearing a hard hat. It’s the only enjoyable part of the main plot.
