My biggest issue with the Fire and Ice episode of MacGyver is that it comes just three weeks after the two-part season three opener in which Elyssa Davalos starred as MacGyver’s once-dead and then-dead-again love. To have the same actress, with essentially the same look, return in such a short time frame was pretty ridiculous. Granted, Davalos had good rapport with series star Richard Dean

Anderson, and she’s a good actress, but it would have been better to have made this a show for the second half of the season at least.

MacGyver: Fire and Ice opens with Danny, a high school friend of MacGyver’s, being murdered as he told Mac about an insurance case he was working on. The character Davalos plays is Danny’s sister and wants to solve the case ...

      • for her brother. Unfortunately, the culprit is a diamond thief with diplomatic immunity. Thus, Mac and Nikki Carpenter (Davalos) devise a plan to achieve their goal.

There’s lots of intrigue in MacGyver: Fire and Ice as the scheme proceeds. Both Mac and Nikki have to think on their toes. They come up with a clever way of getting the diplomat deported.

        However, the show just

ends. There’s no wrap up of any kind. We go from seeing the diplomat get caught with his hands in the diamond jar, so to speak, to the closing credits. It’s not smooth. I imagine they had some timing issues, but it seems to me like they could have eliminated some of the intrigue and added a one-minute wrap up of some kind.
