The Amazing Race took the teams to India once again. Watching the reactions to this country is always emotional. In particular, it was Luke who had the most dramatic and emotional reaction. It’s hard seeing kids eating garbage and running around naked. His tears were real and believable. I have to admit, though, that I’d like to see The Amazing Race come up with something that truly benefits India, other than their presence and however that helps the economy.

I recall how the other big reality show, Survivor, really did something after encountering the conditions they witnessed in Africa. To this day, the show continues to support HIV/Aids causes in the country. They responded and took action and by continuing to actively support Africa via auction sales and other events, they remind the world of the conditions there and that help is needed.

From what I can see, the only thing that the producers of The Amazing Race do is continue to ...

      • go back to India and show us tears, lots and lots of tears. I want to see some action. I want reaction to the reactions. It’s time for more than just pointing out the blight that exists there.

That aside, the show was actually a bit ho-hum with no real action to speak of. The brother and sister team of Victor and Tammy easily waltzed their way to the pit stop. The most emotional struggle was watching the father and son

team of Mel and Michael. Mel ended up having to do one of the most physical challenges in India, and he pulled it off admirably. He wanted to make Michael proud, and he did that and more, actually finishing the task ahead of all of the other younger folks. Father and son finished second.

As a show, it was average entertainment, but as I said, it’s time for The Amazing Race to be more than a show when it comes to India.
