MacGyver: Countdown is the fourteenth episode of season one. It’s a very watchable show which has the action contained and rather subdued aboard a cruise ship. The sedentary action is watching Mac and his buddy try to disarm three bombs that have been set on the passenger

ship. So, this is not a show for big explosions and running through some foreign country.

The buddy helping Mac is his friend, Charlie Robinson (played nicely by Steven Williams). People named Charlie don’t tend to survive, and this one doesn’t fare any better. He’s a nice guy, so it’s really too bad. Taking Charlie’s place in the disarming procedure is the ship’s lovely captain, played by Ellen Bry. She wants to take Mac on a cruise. Who doesn’t? She’ll get her wish, but not until after the day has been saved.

Elcar is back as Pete Thornton. He’s the one who has hired both Mac and Charlie to work their magic. He’s also brought back another bomb expert, Donahue (played by the always devilish Michael Cavanaugh) only this one isn’t exactly who he claims to be.

      MacGyver: Countdown is

a good show. There’s nothing particularly outstanding about it, but it’s a MacGyver that is entertaining and enjoyable. It’s one I always watch and never turn off, no matter how many times I’ve seen it. It’s just fun watching MacGyver figure out how the real culprit is behind the bombs.
