  • The best people ended up working more on Atlantis, than SG-1, and so much time was devoted there, that things were allowed to happen on SG-1 that never would have before

In my last review for the episode called Ethon of Stargate SG-1, I mentioned that one of the reasons that shows in the final two seasons of the series were poor was because of the lack of attention to SG-1 as a result of the powers that be working on the spin-off, Stargate Atlantis.

Indeed, before the spin-off ever began filming, a number of fans expressed their concern to the cast

at a convention, most of them fearing that the new show would lessen the quality of the original. Well, that’s what happened. The best people ended up working more on Atlantis, than SG-1, and so much time was devoted there, that things were allowed to happen on SG-1 that never would have before.

This is never more evident than in Stargate SG-1: Off the Grid. In this episode, the ...

      • team is captured and about to be tortured and killed. They are tied up, sitting on a bench, surrounded by the villains. In the next shot, they are running through the woods, heading for the Stargate. Excuse me? How exactly did they get free? The producers knew it was an oversight, but they let it go. What a crazy thing to do to a show
that was once quality. There is no explanation given for how the team escapes. Not only that, but their run through the woods is utilized multiple times, so it’s not like they didn’t have the time.

This irks me, and it gets this show a very low mark. It should anyway, having Mitchell and his leather brigade arguing over who is the most roguish and cracks about Mary Poppins.

        Crazy.
