  • I typically dislike it when creators and writers focus the entertainment specifically on just one or two characters, I much prefer it when there are side stories and wider ranges of storylines throughout the series or throughout the episode so that the single storylines do not get boring
  • Episode 3 I found had a fair frew laughs like all futurama episodes, but one of the things that took away from it was that it focused directly only on the friendship between Fry and Bender
  • Overall I would definitely give this episode a good and well earned 7 out of 10

Series Name: Futurama Episode Title: Episode 4: Loves Labours Lost In Space Original air Date: April 13 1999 My personal rating: 7/10

As you can see, my personal rating for this specific episode, episode 4, Loves Labours Lost In Space, is 7 out of 10 which is up from my last rating of 5 out of 10 for episode 3. This is for a wide variety of reasons. I typically dislike it when creators and writers focus the entertainment specifically on just one or two characters, I much prefer it when there are side stories and wider ranges of storylines throughout the series or throughout the episode so that the single storylines do not get boring. Episode 3 I found had a fair frew laughs like all futurama episodes, but

one of the things that took away from it was that it focused directly only on the friendship between Fry and Bender.

Episode 4 however I found started to put the short-running series back on track and this time the planet express crew were assigned a mission to rescue ‘animals’ from a planet which had been mined completely hollow. Of course, things don’t go exactly as planned, because well, where is the fun in that? The crew however comes into contact with the famous starship captain, Zapp Brannigan and his lieutenant Kif. I would just like to state, Zapp Brannigan is one of the most hilarious characters I have ever watched from any animated entertainment show whether it be television, cinema or anything, he is simply hilarious and is one ...

      • of the recurring characters which makes Futurama memorable.

Of course, Zapp Brannigan, like the majority of role models, does not live up to his expected hype and throws the crew in prison for attempting to land on the planet without his permission. This however was only his ploy as he wanted to ‘make it with a woman.’ One of the things I find hilarious in this episode is Zapp’s pronunciation of “champagne” which he pronounces “Cham-Pagg-Unn”. Of course, There are many things within this episode which make it simply hilarious, such as a steam pipe which says “steam pipe, do not bend” so bender decides to break it off in an attempt to escape after Fry’s plan to which Fry replies “it’s no use! It’s full of steam!”

        Overall

I would definitely give this episode a good and well earned 7 out of 10. I felt that the third episode in the series marked a potential set-back for the entire season, as usually when one episode dwindles, the following ones usually follow suite, however, Futurama was an exception as the series continued to get better and better with each passing episode. Of course, the series may have some weaker episodes and some stronger ones, but this was certainly not one of the weaker ones. I found it enjoyable and funny all the way through and much like the first three episodes in the season, the fourth featured the introductions of several new recurring characters as well as some long-running jokes which are present throughout the other seasons.

A very well deserved 7 out of 10.
