I have tried both the Maybelline Superstay Lip Color and the Covergirl version and they are both pretty good. It claims to offer 16 hours of liquid color, unaffected by eating or drinking. Well, that may not be quite true, but it still does stay on pretty well for several hours.

The double-ended applicator has liquid color on one end, with a sponge-tip applicator. The other end is a clear lip-balm which sets the color and adds a definite sheeny gloss.

It applies quite thickly, even if you try to wipe off the excess on the edge of the applicator tube, so there

is no way to get light coverage. Be prepared to look pretty fully made up with full-on lips with all of these colors.

The darker the shade, the more heavily made-up you’ll look. It comes in a very wide range of colors, something for everyone.

I like the berry shades, my favorite being #755, which I wear every day to work. You apply the color, wait for one minute (with your lips parted, and don’t try to talk because your lips will stick together while it’s drying!), then apply the balm.

They do eventually dry out a bit after a few hours,

      • so plan to reapply the balm. They do sometimes get a bit of flaking around the edges, at the corners of your mouth, and the point where your outer lips meet your more moist inner lips.

This product does not adhere to moist surfaces, so sometimes there will be a well-defined line of demarcation where your lipstick ends and your inner lip begins. I’m conscious of that when I wear the darker colors especially.

And beware when you apply that it doesn’t get onto your teeth, because it sticks to them and you’ll have to wipe it off really well. But a great

        product overall, I’m a fan.

And although it does wear off more where your lips meet, say after a couple cups of coffee and some lunch, it’s not super-noticeable. If you want to reapply a little of the color mid-day, be sure to wipe off all the balm first.

Repeat: Do NOT attempt to reapply color on top of the balm, it won’t adhere and your lips will turn into a mass of tiny smeared clumps, yuck. So, wipe off the balm as best you can and then reapply the color.

Give this product a try so you don’t have to think about your lipstick for hours.
