I had been looking forward to the big screen adaption of Stephen King’s excellent short story 1408 from his collection Everything’s Eventual. I’d heard quite a few positive reviews and heard that it didn’t do too bad at the box office either, which was unexpected and hopefully a good hearld.
As in the story, it features skeptic Mike Enslin’s stay at one of the most terrifying hotel rooms ever to slip under the paranormal scope. once again, Enslin
(John Cusack) is terrified. The film differs from the short story by expanding the tale of Mike Enslin, giving him a backstory featuring a young daughter who died of cancer. As a result his stay in room 1408 has a lot of elements about this tragedy and about life and death.
