Quartier Semlalia, Marrakech 525, Morocco
  • The entire experience is a little overwhelming on your first or even second visit, so I would highly suggest that you find some accommodations which are modern and clean, and that provide a break from the completely mind-altering throngs throughout the old parts of the city
  • We had a small balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens, where we were served an amazing breakfast in the mornings, of coffee and fresh pastries, if we chose to eat in the room rather than in the dining room for the buffet

A trip to Marrakech, Morocco, is truly like stepping back in time, actually, way back in time, especially in the ancient Medina, or market, that is the centerpiece of the city. The entire experience is a little overwhelming on your first or even second visit, so I would highly suggest that you find some accommodations which are modern and clean, and that provide a break from the completely mind-altering throngs throughout the old parts of the city. When my husband and I booked our trip to Morocco, our travel agent provided us a package, so

we didn’t have any idea where we were staying, but our hotel in Marrakech, the Kenzie Semiramis Hotel turned out to be our little oasis in the city.

The Kenzie is located a short taxi ride from the airport and from the Medina in the middle of the city. The outside is beautiful, with bright reds and oranges, and gorgeous Moroccan tiling everywhere. Inside the lobby, it is cool and upscale. The service is most attentive-your every wish is the staff’s command. The front desk speaks excellent French and good English, and you are immediately treated ...

      • to the traditional Moroccan sweet tea when you entire the lobby. The rooms are beautiful, the air conditioning is a welcome relief from the heat, and the linens and décor are opulent while remaining traditionally Moroccan. We had a small balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens, where we were served an amazing breakfast in the mornings, of coffee and fresh pastries, if we chose to eat in the room rather than in the dining room for the buffet.

The pool was a real treat, clean and well kept, with tables and yet another buffet room where you

could eat lunch or brunch, drink sangria or any other drinks you wished at any time of day or night, all surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers. The main dining room, which we visited mainly for dinner, had a truly wonderful buffet, with both Moroccan specialties and most anything else you could want. The service in all the eating establishments was beyond excellent, and again, almost over the top as far as the staff making every effort to please the guests. All in all, it is an excellent choice and a refreshing retreat for visitors to Marrakech.
