In the late 1990s and the early 2000s, there were three cartoons on Cartoon Network which I remember were quite popular amongst children and a few teenagers I knew. These were “Johnny Bravo”, “Cow and Chicken” and “Dexter’s Laboratory”. Even now I think that “Dexter’s Laboratory” or “Dexter’s Lab”, might have been the second most loved one.

In fact, before the animated television series “Jimmy Neutron” was created, the most popular

boy genius was Dexter. The show was about a little boy genius named Dexter who has a secret laboratory in his house. However, he finds that his laboratory is often broken into by his older sister Dee Dee who is an annoying and brainless ballerina. Therefore, he keeps trying to invent various ingenious ways to keep her out, but none ever work and she still manages to get in and interfere with his work.

On the other hand, Dexter’s arch nemesis is another boy named Mandark. Mandark seems just as genius as Dexter, but is always trying to steal or scam Dexter out of his accomplishments.

The subplot to the series is another show called “The Justice Friends” which many “Justice League” and “Superfriends” fans can realize is actually a parody to both the shows. The characters in this series ...

are “Major Glory” which of course judging from the name and costume is obviously a parody to the Marvel comics superhero “Captain America”, “Krunk” which is also obviously a parody to the Marvel Comics superhero “Hulk” and “Valhallen” which even though they say he was also modeled after the Marvel Comic character “Thor”, many 80s metal fans will realize that his name sounds similar and is spelt near to the
name of an 80s metal star” EddieVan Halen”. In the show the superheroes are all sharing an apartment and have to deal with each other’s weird habits and superpowers.

I would recommend this to both adults and children as I think both would enjoy it equally. The adults will understand certain things more such as the parodies in show “Justice Friends”. However, the children will only see it as hilarious and fun.
