  • I dislike the smell of fish, no matter how it is cooked, I dislike the taste of it, since once I eat it, it seems the taste will not come out of my mouth no matter how many times I brush my teeth and I also dislike the texture of it, since at times I find it too tender for my liking
  • After going there, I was able to see that a part from the delicious meals and great service the restaurant was known for, many people are also attracted to it because it is very near to the seaside
  • This is exactly why I think the location is ideal for this restaurant as, one may opt to take a seat at one of the tables on the second storey under the stars and watch your troubles melt away, or just simply be seated at a table on the ground floor while a movie is on and wait to be served
  • However, I do not think that should be a very big problem for those who are looking for good food and a good restaurant, since quality normally comes at a price

I hate most kinds of fish. I dislike the smell of fish, no matter how it is cooked, I dislike the taste of it, since once I eat it, it seems the taste will not come out of my mouth no matter how many times I brush my teeth and I also dislike the texture of it, since at times I find it too tender for my liking. There are not many people who can get me to try a piece of fish, since I also have a preconceived notion that I will hate it. Before I went to the restaurant, “Gloria’s” one night, I had no clue how someone could love fish.

“Gloria’s” is just one of Port Royal’s hot spots for both tourists and locals alike. In fact, even though the original owner, Gloria died some years ago, if you go to the restaurant on a weekend it is still very full. After going there, I was able to see that a part from

the delicious meals and great service the restaurant was known for, many people are also attracted to it because it is very near to the seaside. The last time I went there was sometime near Christmas one year, and I remember that nothing was more relaxing than hearing the crash of the waves nearby and the feel and smell of the cool sea breeze on my skin. This is exactly why I think the location is ideal for this restaurant as, one may opt to take a seat at one of the tables on the second storey under the stars and watch your troubles melt away, or just simply be seated at a table on the ground floor while a movie is on and wait to be served.

As was mentioned before, I loathe most types of fish; but all this was to change one especially busy night at “Gloria’s” when everything that was not seafood ran out on the menu. I was very upset and ...

      • wondered how something like this could have happened, and someone managed to persuade me to try their fried fish instead, and then maybe after, if I was still dissatisfied, they would buy me dessert. Thus, I ordered the fried fish, which took up nearly all my plate by the way, and smelled delicious. I was even more surprized when I started eating and realized that the fish was possibly one of the most delicious things I had ever tasted. It was so delicious, I nearly forgot my manners and I also spent a long time looking for more on my plate even after it was done. I had also ordered steamed bammies with mine. Bammies are a Jamaican food made from cassava, which was eaten in the past by Jamaica’s previous inhabitants, the Taino indians. The steamed bammies I ordered from “Gloria’s” were just as glorious as the fried fish I ordered that night, and by the time I finished everything, I was full to
the brim and had no room for dessert.

Although I was not the one who paid the bill at the restaurant, I do know that Gloria’s is a little more expensive than your average restaurant. However, I do not think that should be a very big problem for those who are looking for good food and a good restaurant, since quality normally comes at a price.

The only thing I disliked about the place though was the female bathroom, which I think could have been taken care of better. It was not loathsome like some public bathrooms I have been in, but I think that they should be remodeled to be bigger, with better, newer toilets, the trash taken out more frequently, the tiles changed, the color of the paint on the walls changed, more bathroom stalls, more and better bathroom sinks and the list goes on. It seems to me that this place pays a lot of attention to everything but its bathrooms, which is a problem.
