  • This is one of the best N64 games despite it being the first for the system
  • Although Super Mario 64 does not present as high degree of a challenge as some previous Mario games, the challenge it does offer is significant enough to satisfy most players, I think
  • I like how there is a nice variety of worlds to explore such as meadows, mountains, lakes, caverns as well as sky levels, secret levels and more

This is one of the best N64 games despite it being the first for the system. Although Super Mario 64 does not present as high degree of a challenge as some previous Mario games, the challenge it does offer is significant enough to satisfy most players, I think.

I know it satisfied me! The worlds are nicely sized and require a combination of exploration, platforming, fighting and collecting.

There enemies of various shapes and types

to be beaten, some of which cannot be beat, although I will say that most of the enemies are a pushover.

Speaking of pushovers, the bosses in this game are so easy! Why could they have not been made a little stronger or with more impressive abilities or something? One boss is even copied and later reused in another level, just with a different color scheme! The boss is beaten the exact same way, has ...

      • the exact same attacks and sounds, and even stands on a similar platforming! Even still, there are plenty of challenging tasks that need to be completed, and some require the help of timed power-ups.

That also adds a sense of urgency and difficulty to the game since it is imperative that a player complete a certain task before the power-up fades otherwise the player might lose a life.

I like how there is a nice

variety of worlds to explore such as meadows, mountains, lakes, caverns as well as sky levels, secret levels and more.

The exploration part of the game is really strong and fun.

Overall, this game will last awhile, and even after it is beaten, it is fun to just return to and revisit the worlds.

The graphics, while not brimming with details are good enough and the music is a real treat to listen to and enjoy.
