  • So, while it's convenient, it's not good for the tapes

These video cabinets are sold by Harriet Carter and really don’t have a brand name attached to them.

Each video cabinet holds eighteen videotapes, nine per side. The cabinets are attractive, with a brown, wooden appearance. They are stackable, so you can just have a single cabinet on a bookshelf or wherever you prefer, or you can several, one atop

      the other.

Each video cabinet is roughly 17 by 12 and is five-inches high.

The drawers of the video cabinet pull out easily, revealing the slots for the nine videos it holds.

Now here are the two problems with the system. First, videotapes shouldn’t be stored horizontally, which is the only way these video cabinets are designed to be. So, while it’s ...

      • convenient, it’s not good for the tapes. Secondly, they break at the drop of a hat, and once broken, they aren’t really fixable. This isn’t high quality wood. I’m not sure what it is exactly; maybe just cheap particle board.

Also, if you are unfortunate enough to have one break, it can be dangerous. I had sliver problems

as well as nasty pieces of board sticking up, something that was dangerous for me and my pets.

There isn’t an easy way of moving the video cabinets, especially when they are full, so it’s risky. That’s part of what got me in trouble with one of mine.

So, while the video cabinets look good and sound good, for me, I’m not fond of them.
