Stargate SG-1: Chain Reaction gives us a closer look at General Hammond’s life. Played by Don S. Davis, Hammond is forced into retirement, and it’s up to Jack to get to the root of the decision.

Meanwhile, SG-1 has been dismantled, with Daniel forbidden to go off-world, Teal’c reassigned to SG-3, and Sam working on

a bomb. The new SGC commander is a mouthpiece who has no clue he’s being used to make very stupid decisions.

Jack teams up with Harry Maybourne to find the source of their problems, and the road leads right to Senator Kinsey, keenly played by Ronny Cox.

The fun part about the scene with Kinsey is ...

      • that it features a dog. On the show, the dog’s name is Oscar, and he’s Kinsey’s. In real life, the dog’s name was Zoe, and she was one of Richard Dean Anderson’s pride and joys. In fact, it’s so easy to tell how Zoe loved Rick. She goes right to him,
and when the scene transitions and Rick starts going up the stairs, she clearly wants to follow and he sort of subtly waves her back. Wonderful scene.

Stargate SG-1: Chain Reaction is a good show, but once again, as becomes the norm, the team is divided in their actions, and that goes against the entire premise of SG-1.
