Another crazy idea, but an entertaining episode is how I’d describe Stargate SG-1: Fail Safe from season five. The team is together for the entire episode, and that’s something I treasure.

Basically, Stargate SG-1: Fail Safe is the movie Armageddon. SG-1 works fast to try and deflect an asteroid from hitting Earth. Of course, nothing is ever that easy, but they like to think it is.

I love the humor that is throughout

this show. There’s a line that is repeated multiple times — “I’m confident” — and becomes a running gag even among the team. During a montage, some of the shots are hysterical, like Daniel sleeping against the bomb. The very last lines are funny, too. As dramatic as things are supposed to be here, the comedy shines through.

Don S. Davis gets to do some shining in this episode as ...

      • General Hammond, too. With key personnel heading for the Alpha Site to potentially start over the human race, he refuses to go. There’s a poignant moment towards the end when he says goodbye to Major Davis that just pulls at your gut. He also continues to have great faith in SG-1, something so true and easy to believe after the years of history with them. Don S. Davis did a
        magnificent job here.

The one thing that doesn’t ring true is that on Earth, as Janet prepares to go to the Alpha Site, there is no mention of her daughter, Cassandra. We need to know if Cassie has been brought to the Mountain, or what the deal is. It’s not terribly believable for Janet to be worrying so much about Hammond if her daughter was being left behind.

I love Fail Safe; great episode.
