We were advised that this has to be on our itinerary; so we set off on the 2nd day of our vacation. If you are taking a bus up, make sure it is a double-decker, and get hold of the front seats on top it’s a thrilling experience.

The driver was very skilled in maneuvering those winding roads; it was sometimes a heart-stopper when he drove past another bus or truck on a narrow road,

or made a u-turn in a small space!

The bus stopped at the Peak’s terminal at the ground level of a shopping center, the Peak Galleria.

We wandered around, past shops and restaurants until we found a lift that took us to the top.

It is an open platform that offers an astounding view - lofty skyscrapers, surrounding green hillsides, the Victoria harbor and glimpses of the surrounding islands.

Opposite us was an observation deck ...

      • (the Sky Terrace) on top of the Peak Tower.

It is higher than where we were standing; but then you have to pay for the view up there.

It was very windy and chilly; even with my coat and windbreaker, I could not stand there for too long.

We went down and crossed over to the Peak Tower, where the tram terminal is located.

Here there are more restaurants, eating places, shops

selling souvenirs (rather pricey though), Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and the entrance to the Sky Terrace.

We were tickled to see the wax statues of Bruce Lee and President Obama near the entrance.

However we didn’t enter, as the entrance fee was a bit high.

We were told that the view from the Peak is even more magnificent at night; I can believe that.

Now I understand why the Peak is so highly recommended as a tourist destination.
