      This movie is based on the novella “The Body” by Stephen King. I was very happy to see that, for once, the movie closely followed the original story; and actually did it justice.

      It’s 1960 in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine;

      and a boy named Ray Brower has gone missing. Four friends hear a rumor about the location of Ray’s body; they decide to embark on an adventure to find the corpse. Threatening them along the way is a local gang of older boys, led by creepy Ace Merrill (Kiefer Sutherland).

      This is a pure character plot; the body itself is not even integral to the plot. The four boys each have their own inner demons to confront and it affects the complex relationships between them.

      It’s a coming of age story, told from the perspective of one of the boys as an adult.

      I give this movie an extremely high rating; I have a deep respect for character plots, which rely on good writing and good acting instead

      of mere special effects. Throughout the film, you get to know each boy intimately: his hopes, fears, dreams, weaknesses. I was impressed at how closely the movie followed the original story, and I highly recommend this film, which is rich in nostalgia.
