Anton’s Pasta Bar has been a fixture in Burnaby, B.C. for many years, as long as I have been old enough to eat out anyway, and pretty much anyone you talk to who lives in the Greater Vancouver area has nothing but good things to say. The restaurant is always busy, with a line-up at least down the block, sometimes extending two city blocks. And, given how much I detest lining up for anything, this is one experience worth the wait. Of course, I do have a secret connection, so I rarely do have to line-up. Once

you finally make it through the door, the smell of fresh garlic and oregano immediately overpowers you. The restaurant is on the small side, but that just adds to the warm and inviting atmosphere.

I have to say that considering the extreme business of the place, I have never once felt hurried by the staff. The service is energetic and friendly, from the moment you are seated until the end of the meal; the servers never appear rushed, despite the crowds, and they give each table attentive and personal service. The menu is delightful. There are basically three ...

      • choices of sauces for most of the pasta: cream, tomato, and a combination of the two in a rosé sauce, which is my personal favourite because it makes a cream sauce less heavy, and adds a tomato taste. Then, the choice is which type of pasta noodle you prefer, and the variety seems endless. The entrées are extremely reasonable, starting at $12.99. And the portions are HUGE, and that is not an exaggeration; I have had two lunches with the leftovers, so given the price, it is an incredible value for dollar. In fact, I swear that
the leftovers just get better in the fridge overnight!

Some of my favourite dishes include the seafood linguini and the hot Italian sausages dishes, but I have also enjoyed the variety of stuffed pasta entrées. I have yet to have a meal that was mediocre. I would also suggest a jug of sangria before your meal-Anton’s sangria is sweet and fruity. The desert menu looks great too, but I must say I have yet to have room to try one; in fact, no one I have ever dined with here has ever been able to sample the deserts!
