It is hard to make a comedy where your main premise centers around two men who are dying of cancer. Still, they tried with The Bucket List.

Not only did they try, but they kind of succeeded. Both leads, Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, play characters

that cater to their own strengths as actors and the script is actually solid. The characters are developed, it has heart and doesn’t dance around the issue. Amidst all the angst regarding the impending doom, you actually manage to get a few laughs in as well.

      For some ...

      • reason though, this movie is less than the sum of its parts. I don’t know why I didn’t like this movie more than I did. There’s nothing wrong with it perse. It just didn’t resonate with me as much as it should have.

        You’ve got

two strong leads, a solid script with an emotional story to tell but at the end it just comes out as “OK”.

Add it to your netflix queue, you should enjoy it well enough, but I don’t know if its worth putting down 20-30 bucks to add it to your collection.
