  • This was a great, energetic, creative episode of one of the best sit-coms on TV
  • The only problem is that his mother recovered, so Barney had to continue with the charade, even casting a child actor to play his son
  • I know this sounds crazy, but the Barney character manages to pull it off
  • Marshall used to be the weak link but now sometimes I think he is the funniest guy on the show

“The Stinsons” is the episode of How I Met Your Mother that aired on CBS on March 2, 2009. This was a great, energetic, creative episode of one of the best sit-coms on TV! The plot revolved around Barney but everyone got some funny lines.

Pros: The plot is that Barney’s mother was on her death

bed years ago, and she wanted to know Barney had met someone special. So Barney hired an actress to play his fiance. The only problem is that his mother recovered, so Barney had to continue with the charade, even casting a child actor to play his son. I know this sounds crazy, but the Barney ...

      • character manages to pull it off! Whacky hijinks ensure, involving Barney’s son hitting on Robin, Ted kissing Barney’s wife, Ted slapping Barney, and Marshall and Lily being subjected to Barney’s mother recounting her sorted past.

Everything clicks perfectly. Ted in particular gets a chance to ad lib about why he wanted to get back at Barney.

        Cons:

There was nothing wrong with this episode. Everything clicked wonderfully.

Overall: This was probably the best episode thus far of How I Met Your Mother this season. Marshall used to be the weak link but now sometimes I think he is the funniest guy on the show. I give this episode a 10 out of 10.
