When Candyman was released in theatres in 1992, I thought it was a highly innovative concept. What really made me want to see it ,was the fact that the story is based on a Clive Barker

      short story.

Clive Barker’s story “The Forbidden” takes place in Europe.

What was so great about Candyman, is that they chose an African-American actor to portray the supernatural killer.

That was something that wasn’t seen very often (if at ...

      • all) during the early ’90s.

The urban setting makes the story that much more scary.

People were not used to seeing horrible things happening to inner city people.

        The movie itself isn’t riveting.

        The effects are gory.

        The acting is just “so-so”.

But the story is so creepy, that you just don’t care.

I’ve seen the other (2) remaining Candymanmovies.

        But this one is best.

It’s less corny, and sets the pace with some really disturbing images.
