I finally got around to watching the 5th season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer today; starting with the first episode, Buffy versus Dracula. It wasn’t a bad episode but not quite as good as I expected it to be.

As you can guess by the title, Buffy gets to face

the most famous of all vampires.

You have to love Dracula, who is played by Rudolf Martin.

He’s able to do everything the legend could do, change shape, disappear into the mist, etc.

And, he is so cocky throughout the entire episode.

I also loved how they managed to turn ...

      • Xander into a Renfield like character and had the Count defeated without actually killing him.

It was also interesting seeing Buffy at a disadvantage; especially when Dracula enters her room (somehow uninvited) and bites her neck.

It was a bit scary actually.

I’m just not sure if they really did

the legendary vampire justice at the end, when he kept coming back and kept being staked.

I’m sure Giles had a great time with the vampire sisters though.

I know most guys probably would.

It was a good episode, just not a great one; something that seems to be a trend in the later Buffy the Vampire seasons.
