Sure, the plot seems a bit “cookie-cutter” at first; but don’t let that fool you. “House” is a deeply disturbing film that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Two young couples are stranded in rural Alabama. They find shelter at a nearby bed and breakfast; but what at first seems

like a quaint, cozy establishment turns swiftly into a bloodcurdling nightmare. A psychotic killer - human or spirit, we don’t know - is hunting them, trying to get into the house. His ultimatum? Deliver a dead body, and he might let the rest live.

What makes this movie a success is that it’s ...

      • no ordinary house. As the frightened couples make their way into the bowels of the mansion to escape the killer, they’re split up and forced to confront their own inner demons. The house has a terrible power to conjure up their worst fears; and meanwhile, the eerie hillbillies who run the supposed
“bed and breakfast” are also roaming the house, ready to kill.

I found the movie visually intense, well-acted, and I was taken aback by the shocking twist ending. I’d describe “House” as a horrifying romp with great entertainment value; and it’ll give you something to think about: what are you willing to do for survival?
