The Swissotel Merchant Court in Singapore is a 12 storey, 476 roomed hotel situated in the financial district of Singapore right next to the Singapore river. The entrance does not do the grand foyer justice and we were pleasantly surprise when we stepped through the huge glass doors.

This hotel was the final stop on our round the world trip and we were exhausted. The desk staff were extremely friendly and understanding checking us in with swift ease. When we arrived at our room

the childs cot that was ordered was not there but one phone call to reception and the cot was there within 15 minutes. Our room was large, comfortable and everything like the luxury we were expecting. The large floor to ceiling windows looked out onto some building works that the hotel was having done but we never heard any noise through the windows. The room was beuatifully decorated in a subtle oriental style and the air conditioning was fantastic.

The Ellenborough Market Cafe served ...

      • everything from oriental to western and the service was excellent. The staff were willing to help at any moment. Round the corner from the reception was a small bar which served drinks and snacks throughout the day. It was here that we celebrated our daughters 1st birthday an the staff surprised us with a small cake and candle for her.

The Blue Potato on the pool deck was fantastic too and served a western menu. The pool itself was lovely with views over

Clarke Quay and the Singapore river.

The two gift shops in the foyer provided a wide range of gifts from the traditional to the touristy, expensive to affordable. We picked up a traditional dress for our daughter which she wore on her birthday and a kimono style dressing gown for me as well as the usual t-shirts and gifts for family back home.

All in all we had a fantastic 3 days at this friendly, efficient hotel and will book this hotel again without question.
