      Beef Pares, which is beef cooked in broth served with stir fried rice and scrambled edd, has always been a comfort food for ordinary folks here in the Philippines and is mostly served in roadside carinderias (small restaurants). It is usually eaten at the start of the day to ensure more energy and stamina to perform daily tasks.


      1/2 kilo beef

      brisket, diced 2 cloves of garlic 1 onion, sliced into quarters salt and pepper to taste 1 1/2 liters of water for boiling 1/2 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 piece of Star Anise 1/2 tsp chopped ginger 2 tbsp cooking oil 1/2 tbsp chopped garlic 2 1/2 cup cooked rice 1 scrambled egg 1/2 tbsp chopped green ...

      • onion 1 tbsp roasted garlic


        Boil beef with garlic,onion, salt and pepper in water and reduce it later to a simmer until beef is tender. After which, add soy sauce, brown sugar, star anise and ginger. You can add more salt to improve taste. Optional, you can all put some chilis to make it spicy and more appetizing to

        the taste.

        In a separate pan, heat oil and saute garlic until golden brown. Add cooked rice and mix well. Keep stiring the rice until hot and slightly brown in color.

        Serve rice topped with scrambled egg, green onion and toasted garlic together with beef which can be served in a separate bowl with broth.
