This is a beautiful historical hotel, famous for the movie which was mostly shot here, “Anatomy of a Murder” with Jimmy Stewart in the 1950s. You can’t miss it when entering Big Bay because it is the largest building in site.

It is located on a hill overlooking Lake Independence.

      The hotel still is decorated

in that 50s style with original furnishings in their rooms.

All of the rooms are upstairs in the hotel.

Some of them have their own baths, while others share a bath.

It is truly an experience to stay here.

Ask for a tour or ask if you can look around on your own.

      In ...

      • the dining area, there is a bar, which can get loud in the late evening hours.

However, it is more of a family restaurant during the day and earlier evening.

They do have a limited menu, specializing in sandwiches and pizzas, but also have a Friday fish fry.

The food is good and worth the

        price.

If you would enjoy an experience in an old historical hotel with an interesting history in a small town, this is the place to go.

The surrounding area of Big Bay is nice and worth the trip to see.

It is located about 20 to 30 miles north of Marquette on County Road 550.
