Finally a game that does the Star Wars name justice. Knights of the Old Republic is one of the greatest Star Wars games ever made. Period. End of story. Not only this, but Knights of the Old Republic is also one of the greatest RPG’s of all time. It has a wide cast of very lovable characters, many, many, many options that make the game extremely replayable, and the classic Star Wars feel that just stirs good old feelings inside of you.

One of the most remarkable features of this game is the choice between good and evil that you face in almost every conversation. A very wide range of conversation options lets you truly voice your opinion or role-play as the dark knight or light bearing consular of good! The class and force power choices you get to make are amazing and allow for a great deal of customization. Whether you choose to be a force wielding consular, a light saber

guru guardian, or the ever tricky and blaster oriented scout, you won’t choose wrong, as there are tons and tons of options for each class to take it’s own unique approach to the situation.

Another really cool feature of the game is that as soon as you come into battle, which can be paused at any time, though is real-time, the game pauses, and allows you to queue all of your actions, healing, and all else, for all of your characters, not just your personal Jedi. And once again if you so choose, you can switch and take control of any character you wish at any time you wish, and queue the actions of the other two.

One of my favorite aspects of this game is the weapon upgrading. You can upgrade your light saber with different crystals, effecting everything from the color of your light saber, to the attack power, to accuracy with it. Different types of armor limit what you’re able to do.

      • For example if you use a heavy armor on a jedi, then the jedi won’t be able to use force powers, as the gear is too restricting. However, if you equip your jedi with a robe, then you have full control of your force powers. Don’t fret though as many of the robes are great and you don’t really make any sacrifices in wearing one. A unique implant system allows for upgrades through biological implants, effecting regeneration or health or many other things.

Droids are fun! Droid party members are awesome jacks of all trades. They have high HP and generally do pretty good damage. They’re usefulness comes in their extremely high repair and programming skills when it comes to working with other droids and electronics.

Another great thing about this game is that if you build your relationship with your other human characters enough you can lead them down the path of the jedi. Talk about an upgrade! It takes many

conversations and choosing the right choices to accomplish this of course, but boy is it worth it to have a party of jedi gunning down storm troopers as opposed to a jedi, a droid, and a wookie! Did I mention the wookie action? In fact, you get to explore the whole planet of Kashyyk and the dangerous forest floor. Explore Sith ruins and uncover treasure to fight your way to your glory! All in all, Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic is one of the best games I’ve played, and is definitely the second best game I’ve played for X-Box, following only Halo. If you’re a fan of Star Wars, RPG’s, or both, then you should definitely pick this game up. You won’t regret it. It’s also available for PC, so if you choose not to pick up the archaic X-Box but your PC is worthy of the small load, then pick it up! Go forth, level, and enjoy Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic!
