The ChampagneBeach in L’Anse Bateaux, Dominica is a long beach on the west coast of the island. It is a beautiful beach that has a lot of rocks, but essentially no sand, and what little sand there is, it is black.

Although the beach is beautiful, the rocks are a bit

bothersome and finding a good spot to lay out your towel and suntan on the beach is a problem.

What is good about this beach is the reason it got its name: the bubbles in the sea.

There is an echo of volcanic activity still happening on the seabed, and this ...

      • sends bubbles up into the water that resembles champagne bubbles that rise in a glass.

With the aid of a guide and some snorkeling equipment that can be rented (at a reasonable price!) from many near by diving facilities, the sensation of being in a glass of champagne can be delightfully

        fulfilling.

When you are done snorkeling, there are many large rocks in the water and close to the shore itself where you can perch and sunbathe in reasonable comfort.

However, you should look out for the crabs and other wildlife that may be crawling around the same rock you are lying on.
