It’s funny how the memories of a particular place you have visited or an event you attended can just come flooding back into your memory even after years since you have even thought about them. One such memory occurred to me when I thought of places I would like to visit for the first time. And then I remember a family vacation we had taken to Florida.

We went to Cypress Gardens. Even as a small child I took in the enthusiasm, the excitement, the wonder and beauty of it all. Cypress Gardens is a really impressive place to visit and worth the money to see it.

It’s located in Winter Haven Florida. And it was Florida’s first theme park. To give

you an idea of how long it’s been around, it was built even before Disney World was. I want to touch on some of the really nice things that you can do at this theme park, such as watch the water skiing shows, check out the gorgeous Botanical Gardens, and watch several live shows. Ride a variety of rides, eat and relax and take everything in.

I had not really been exposed to a lot of water skiers before and boy do they have the shows for you to see. The speed of the boats and the athletic quality of the skiers is really impressive to see.

The Butterfly Pavilion is really amazing and children really get a kick out of it. There ...

      • was all kinds of music concerts that you could attend and they provided some neat shows such as the Southern Bells, Swamp Critters and Tricks of the trade to name a few.

Be sure and check out the Botanical Gardens. They are really a site to see! With beautiful gazebos, banyan trees, cypress trees and pretty flowering gardens. When we were there it was so fun to watch the brightly colored parrots doing neat tricks like drinking from a water fountain all by themselves.

They even had an interactive water park called Splash Island Water Park, with wild slides where screams and giggles could be heard from everyone.

Unfortunately they are in the midst of making some major renovations to the theme park which

includes the elimination of 38 rides and the animal exhibits. Over the years the park has gone through many transitions, because of so many different owners. So maybe their thinking to narrow things down a bit to stay ahead of the ball game so to speak. There are plans to reopen the park in March of 2009.

You might want to make a point of checking Cypress Gardens Theme Park out after they reopen this March. Check online and see what people have to say about the new appearance and what they think. When we were there in the seventies there was just a ton of fun neat things for you to watch and do. Everybody of all ages could find something to do and enjoy.
