I recently saw the movie Milk with Sean Penn. He is a really good actor and played this part perfectly. I wasn’t familiar with the real Harvey Milk, but I felt like I was after watching Penn’s portrayal.

Harvey Milk was the first openly gay councilmen to be elected on the Sanfranciso city council. He was a historic figure

      in many ways.

This movie discusses the early life of Harvey Milk from the time he was in New York as an insurance executive to his meeting with his lover and the movie to San Francisco.

Milk and his partner started the Castro Camera Shop in San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury district, they became aware of all the discrimination against ...

      • Gays in the area and started to canvass against all of the police brutality in the area.

Once Milk was able to acquire enough votes he was able to be elected to the City Council of San Francisco. He ran into a lot of opposition from the straight councilman by the name of Dan White who had alot

of animosity against Milk and Mayor George Moscone. It eventually ended with Milk’s and Moscone’s assaination It was an event that was traumatic for the community and nation. I really liked this Gus an Sant film. It is really worth the money for a true drama. Those who knew Milk said that the portrayal in this film was very true to life.
